A washed Kenyan processed at Kiri Factory in the eastern part of Kirinyaga, near the Embu border. Kiri is a factory managed by the Ngiriambu Cooperative, named after the nearby Kiri River. In this region, most farmers grow the traditional SL28 variety.

  • Kiri Factory is located in Central Province, Kirinyaga County, in the Njukiini location of Gichugu Division near Kianyaga town. Managed by the Ngiriambu Cooperative and named after the nearby Kiri River, the factory currently receives cherries from approximately 950 farmers.

    The farmers grow SL 28, SL 34, and Batian varieties on clay loam soil. Flowering occurs during February - March and coffee is harvested October – December. The average annual rainfall is 1400mm, and the temperature is 20.5 °C.
